Finally, we have a way of comprehensively (and reproducibly) benchmarking spike sorters across different experimental settings. Jeremy Magland and the have made a big step forward with this recent work. I’m happy that I could be a part of this monumental effort!

Excited to share our paper with and out in today! Entorhinal signals for speed and direction are sensitive to changes to the environment. Congrats to all!

Wow. This is shocking. Under-citation of papers by women led teams in neuroscience is increasing, and driven mostly by citation practices of men-led teams.

there are many excellent points made in this detailed article on natural/machine intelligence from . My take home: meaningful definitions of intelligence are inextricably tied up with our [human] experience of the [natural] world.

The neural compass is currently enjoying something of a renaissance! If you don't want to lag behind then check out this bunch of new head-direction system reviews that came out in the last few weeks (links in the thread):

Happy to share my first PhD project as a . We introduce DeepInsight: A general framework for interpreting wide-band neural activity. Can be applied on unsorted neural data + calcium imaging to decode continous behaviour or stimuli. Paper:

I’m super proud of this work with an awesome team of which is the star. The network finds neural correlates of stimuli and behaviour. We started calling it the artificial John O’Keefe because it ‘discovers’ place cells

The SpikeInterface page is live on the website! Do you perform extracellular recordings? Do you want to use many spike sorters without spending hours in setting them up? And maybe compare their outputs? Check it out!!!

Our first paper on sub-cellular cortical function in realistic-ish navigation behavior: We simultaneously imaged dendrites and their somas in retrosplenial cortex while mice walked around and rotated freely despite 'head fixation' during 2-photon imaging.

Why consulting in neuroscience makes sense: If real life was like academia, you'd not bring your car to mechanics but miss weeks of work because it's cheaper to fix by yourself. Learning valve timing charts would be seen as part of your training. New post:
