It would be unacceptable if one of our allies called for de-escalation if Washington DC were targeted by rockets.

Yes Nikki. Israel should stop bombing Gaza for 24 hours, announce that they expect the rockets to stop during that period, and state expectations that a cease fire be negotiated. This isnt hard to grasp...for the violence to stop, the stronger power will have to choose to end it.
