    Urban development puts pressure on agricultural lands vital to ’s $2.7 billion agriculture industry. Paving over 800 acres of farmland would threaten agricultural production and water management critical to Biscayne Bay and South Dade’s environment.

    Our department has completed the statutorily-required review of the proposed Urban Development Boundary expansion. recommends deny the proposed comp plan amendments based on adverse impacts to "farmland of unique importance." Details 🔽

    Our Federal Partnership Plan released earlier this year spoke to the importance of empowerment ➡️ . Great to see pass this historic bill to do just that, funding more scholarships at & other 1890 Land-Grant Institutions.

    Chairman 's bill to provide additional funding for scholarships for students at 1890 Land-Grant Institutions was favorably reported out of Committee today. Chairman Scott has been a champion on this issue, and this historic bill is one step closer to becoming law.

    We've updated the school data that won't share. With three weeks more data, the math remains the same: kids have been safer in schools that require masks. I've also public records requested 's COVID school data, as has ignored.

    Kids get , too. Even though fewer children get severely ill from COVID-19 compared w/ adults, cases & hospitalizations rose recently in children 11 & younger. To keep from getting & spreading COVID-19 to kids in your life, get a COVID-19 vaccine:

    My heart is with the community today. Nothing can ever bring back the precious lives that were lost or undo the trauma that was inflicted on our students, faculty, and loved ones, but I hope that this can be another step forward in the healing process.

    Unvaccinated adults who became sick w/ were 12 times more likely to be hospitalized compared w/ those who were fully vaccinated, data on CDC’s COVID Data Tracker show. COVID-19 vaccines reduce the risk of severe illness & hospitalization. More: .
