are any of these reviewers Indigenous women? Lakota Sioux women?

Sadly not. Still much work left to do on critical inclusivity. And the issue of Native American experiences being distilled yet again through the experiences of a white individual is something I will be exploring in a longer review for another outlet. Film still has great merit.
-
you should find a Lakota Sioux woman to do that exploration and to review and comment on this film.
-
You are absolutely right in that a Lakota Sioux woman should be able to review the film from her point of view. Just as I should be able to from mine. Film criticism benefits from variety of voices and more needs to be done to enable wider inclusion. Many of us doing what we can.
-
you seen to have industry connections. One thing you could do is try to get a Lakota woman a byline to review this film. That would be using your privilege to leverage for a marginalized voice.
-
I am certainly going to work harder to find and promote those marginalised voices in criticism. Thank you for the discussion.
-
Perhaps this fine discussion will lead to a Lakota female film critic contributing a review of
#WomanWalksAhead to THE FEMALE GAZE at http://AWFJ.org . Meanwhile, diverse opinions on the film are expressed on our Movie of the Week Excelsior! http://awfj.org/blog/2018/06/17/movie-of-the-week-june-15-2018-woman-walks-ahead/ …
