I especially feel this is an issue in the West. We don't want to bother or be bothered. We take individuality to such an extreme that when it's time to depend on someone, we don't know how to or whom to. Depending on others gives them meaning as a part of your life & vice versa.

The modern obsession with being alone and independent has probably ruined more lives than it has helped. Yes, knowing you have the ability to thrive independently is important. No, it’s not sustainable to live this way for long periods. You need people. But the right people.
