@Chrismartin76 @JohnJackson927 @DoctorOcelot I think I might be the odd one that doesn’t use a ref software...
Does no one else find it relaxing to spend hours doing refs at the end with your handy friend Google Scholar?!

I do in-text, and then write full reference in comment to prevent me from constantly scrolling back and forth. Once done, it's a copy-paste-athon.
-
I’ve seen that before—the little comment boxes even with mark-up hidden is too distracting for me tho! I usually just do a new doc for refs and have a hard copy of the paper out in front of me.

Cite while you write all the way. Makes editing so much easier in my opinion. Also, then my PI can easily check the reference if he has questions while he’s editing.
-
I probably should. Or at least at the end of each session. I have a 15k word monster rn with no ref list started..
-
If I were you I would stop writing/editing and put in all your references. My 1st manuscript is 27 pages. I promise you won’t regret it.

I use Mendeley, and after experimenting with 1,2,3, I found that 3 works fastest for me

Mostly 3. I use Endnote, usually as I’m writing. Sometimes just indicate REF and get back to it.

Don't see a good fit. Enter all works in word processor reference database, then do in-text citation while writing.
