The potential alternative for this body of lit is the role of genetic confounding: the same genes that influence lesser paternal investment also influence (to some extent) genes that influence promiscuous beh—both are aspects of ‘fast’ life history strategies.

Thanks for chiming in! I think Study 5 might suffer from this, but Study 1-4 are based on "absent father priming", which admittedly might come with a whole bunch of other problems...

Agreed. I am skeptical that this method of ‘thinking about a time when ..’ is measuring what is claims to be measuring with regard to father absence
