In academic contexts, I always use “Dr” if I’m unsure & will use your first name only if you insist. So if you want to go by Dr that’s cool. If you dont’t thats neat too. But I’m not going to expect & demand the person making my food or cashing me out call me Dr. Seems silly imo

Agree. I’m indifferent to whether Dr is in your title, on your mail, or whatever (if it is an option or you want it go ahead and put it!). I’m just not going to walk around on the day-to-day making everyone address me as so.

Right. In certain contexts it certainly makes sense. But stopping somebody to correct them verbally before allowing them to continue is not just rude but is extremely condescending. (And yes I’m a first generation college student who grew up in the Midwest and all that as well)
