Or is it that good psychology reveals the connections between external disciplines?

It certainly can. IMO psychology is beat viewed as an area, or an outcome, of other disciplines (read, evo biology for ex) rather than its ‘own’ discipline

I might argue that psychology definitely has interests in certain phenomena (i.e. mental states) that separate it as a field from others. But it doesn't seem to stand well on it's own methodologically, so it needs to incorporate other from other fields (e.g. evo bio)

It is absolutely interdisciplinary, and as a field is the beat suited to specific topics. Ultimately, theory is lacking to allow it to truly stand on its owns.

Also, the second time “beat” = “best”
