Pinged. Time to self-isolate. It seems I probably sat near someone with Covid while getting my second jab. Didn’t help the chairs were arranged in pairs and there were no untaken pairs left.

  5. On Tuesday England alone hit 805 hospitalisations. A peak of 1k a day now looks rather optimistic.

Just sat through the most ridiculous lobby. The PM's spokesman refuses to engage in any questions despite the massive public interest questions facing Matt Hancock. Utter contempt for the public.

“There were no deckchairs, no ice-cream shops – what there was, was lots of dinosaurs. It was actually a busy place,” the author said. “They were treading in the sand and mixing it up – almost ploughing it like a field … actually we could even see tracks, where they were going.”

Just to address confusion - 12 of 42 deaths among those doubly vaccinated *does not* indicate vaccines aren't effective. If they weren't effective, we'd expect almost all deaths to be among fully vaccinateds, given vulnerable groups have very high levels of complete vaccination.

Here are some charts showing what is going on with Covid cases and hospitalizations in England. A thread. Firstly, cases. In order that the graph doesn't get too spiky, we smooth it by taking the average cases in the previous 7 days. Here it is.

7,540 cases reported today is highest since February 26. Seven-day average has doubled in 12 days. Hospital admissions will also rise exponentially - but in younger people and the multiplier is still unclear. We still don't know what the "safe" infection level is

Preliminary analysis of Delta variant serial intervals (i.e. delay from onset-to-onset) vs early 2020 in Singapore. Based on household transmission, no clear evidence of difference, so consistent with higher Delta spread being down to difference in R.
