An older woman came into the bookstore today. I made a joke about a credit card reader issue and she said "these things are all programmed by twenty-five-year-old boys who don't comment their code" and somehow we ended up having a great conversation about programming and biases.

Great to see Fuchsia being able to contribute to the wider ecosystem too.

This is mind blowing if true.... I spun up WC3:R the other night and it was noticeable to me how laggy and stuttery the menu was. For a first impression, it's not a good one.

If history teaches us anything it's that scarcity has little to do with people's desire to control other people.

This is a big day for people who feel like they personally fought in WW2 despite being born in 1958.

Just eliminated C++ exceptions in a complicated multithreaded library. It’s 15% faster despite all performance sensitive functions previously being declared noexcept, with no obvious explanation.

SF has many problems but it's still full of beauty. if you create a life outside of work you can still find people outside of tech to hang out with. In the last year I've met people in publishing, teaching, cooking, non-profits. lots of them hanging on by the last threads.

I'm very definitely not writing my own language and compiler just so I can write a video game, no sir. Who would do such a thing?

Having been a trainer & speaker for 8 yrs it was very sad when it came to an end. After lots of soul searching, I’ve decided to go it alone. I’d be grateful if you could help me spread the word!
