    So, as I tweeted in french, I was arrested in , last night on my way to report in . I was taken out of the plane right after landing in front of the other passengers by a police officer and taken in costudy for a 2hour interrogation session.

    I understand why the EU might choose to prioritise foreign policy&migration diplomacy over rule of law issues. Still, this is not a sustainable approach for various reasons. 1) It blows life - even if temporarily - to TR's ruling alliance&strengthens authoritarianism,

    Withdrawing Turkey by presidential decree in the middle of the night from the Istanbul Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence Against Women is not just a bewildering and disgraceful act against women. It’s also unlawful: it appears to be one of parliament’s rare powers.

    Hüsnü Tümen went to the house where his wife Serap, who was in the process of divorcing him, was living and murdered her in front of their two children. Tümen also killed his mother in law & a neighbour who came after hearing gunshots.

    This is important; a select handful of groups (Yeni Akit Islamists, İsmailağa sect, certain branch of Saadet Party, to name a few) have been pushing for Turkey to withdraw and/or implement a local interpretation of Istanbul Convention.
