I recall @NickSzabo4 being pretty vocal about his belief that micropayments are unlikely to catch on. His argument is that the mental cost of making the decision will discourage people from allowing the stream of smaller payments.
But what if your decision is made up front?
To make the decision up-front you need to be able to tell the computer in sufficient detail your preferences, which is often infeasible, and in any case is a very hard UI design problem.
That's a good point. It's a tough task set preferences to make it work the way you'd want.
