Yes it has already started, but in the years and decades ahead it is going to get much worse. If you are doing something some group of people really don't like, which is most of us, your assets will not be safe in a centralized digital system.

Agreed. I’d add that a “walk before you run” approach that is go to semi-centralization then full-decentralization is a good medium term goal that will help full decentralization.A phased-approach decreases the probability of full scale war between centralized and decentralized.

Does using a thin-walled safe make expressing distrust in one's neighbors by buying a safe less controversial? I don't see how this actually helps.
-
The answer is no and I see your argument. But the general public doesn’t yet buy the “safety” aspect, as there are crooks in the crypto space, and that lack of trust in security hampers decentralization. More “education” is needed on the security that decentralization enables.

How are you measuring any of this? What makes you think that a decentralised alternative would have significantly different or better properties?
-
How many of those were centrally regulated?
-
Oh no they are missing out on the heavenly magic of regulation, where distant omniscient bureaucrats secure your money with a click of their fingers. That will fix it!
-
If you’re stating “traditional financial governance is poorly adapted to the digital era” - I’m assuming this isn’t just rhetoric and you have some concrete evidence of this from well regulated modern markets?

The first is basically nothing to do with governance and is reflection of a shitty old system that needs an update. The second is a decent example but how real is it? Maybe grey, or politically sensitive, markets are a valid niche for crypto but vast majority of txns aren’t in it

The left wing in America at least is already quite adept at this, and now the right wing is slowly getting in on it too. Political boycotts on all levels won't be so much outrage outbursts as standard operating procedure as normal as campaign ads by all sides in the coming years.
