As far as I can tell, Bitcoin maximalists are only rude in contrast to the faux-village niceness pursued by utopian marketing campaigns that depend on phony friendliness to seem to work rather than on a technology and governance philosophy that actually works.https://twitter.com/aalexis1234/status/984604586215395328 …

Question & this is not to stir anything up, but bitcoin maximalists do seem quite rude. If the desire is for mainstream adoption, will these attitudes be helpful? Or is this on purpose to show people that even if people are mean, blockchain still works & doesn't care? Curious

No, I think there is a rudeness overall, unfortunately. People want to learn and it isn't helpful when people are mean spirited or suggest you are an idiot if you aren't a computer scientist expert, a libertarian man, or not an OG. I like your historical perspective though.

It is the people throwing around their money or titles (e.g. CEO) to try to control Bitcoin, despite lacking those important areas of knowledge, who properly draw the ire of knowledgeable Bitcoin proponents (not just maximialists).

Ok fair. You have such a strong following. Let people know, they are also scaring away regular people, who really believe in the cause. I tell my Ethereum friends the same. We are better together, fighting against oppression and BS, than stupid twitter wars. Collective power.

The people who don't share the core ethos of Bitcoin yet are trying to control it, we do want to scare them away. They should go throw their money and noise at some utopian chain. That has worked in the past and I hope it still works. But I agree let's be nice to everybody else.

You are leading a way. I have studied you and see you have it in you to lead, though you do not want to. Humans must have leaders, it is in our DNA. Our nature is between Hobbes and Locke, neither virtuous nor ruinous. I hope that you will take the challenge.

Nah. If I convince a few more people to share the core ethos & start using Bitcoin to improve their ability to store & transfer money around the globe, if I learn, discover, & teach a few more things about the nature of money, then I will consider my further efforts a success.

@NickSzabo4 has already more than done his fair share, and continues to, toward unlocking human potential with his work in the field. And he continues to loudly advocate for reason and the tech. IMO He's already a titan in the history books for his efforts.

That's your current view. It is not yet written in stone. History works in mysterious ways and moves with a strange current. His time is right now and will hinge on some decisions he will be part of within the next year or so. History is not complacent.

Her point is that you're scaring away the most important people - the average, critical mass. Core is advocating banking 2.0. You can't fix money with only some tail end of the people interested or even capable of affording it.
