Very interesting, the Bible uses the word "weighed" when describing the 400 silver shekels used by Abraham to purchase a burial plot for his wife, Sarah (Genesis 23, verses 13-17), specifically verse 16: "Abraham weighed out to Ephron."

Rashi- a well known medieval commentator describes the "shekels" used by Abraham in units of weight, most likely as large silver ingots.
