I wrote a piece called "beads & money" I'm keenly aware of the relationship. For every society that used beads for monetary purposes there are probably 50 that don't & most of those that do use them as social currencies

"Don't" present tense (and according to what definition of money)? Early travelers & missionaries, who usually observed cultures in a state far less disrupted by development than they were by the 20th century, observed beads used as SoV & wealth transfers more often than not.
