The value of Ripple is in its marketing and relationships with the banks. People are more likely to adopt something they can use widely. That is why scarcity doesn’t matter. I heard u speak at Blockstack... gracious and forthright:)

I had to photograph his notes, I couldn’t keep up with his depth of concepts. And I couldn’t write fast enough to take good notes. Trust minimized....seems antithetical to public blockchain.

I think this dichotomy between the two channels is where in lies the difference in approach but the end results may be more similar and both are necessary to balance each other out.
