Hey, this is interesting, but unclear about connections and conclusions. Is this from a book or something you could share the source? Sounds like Guns, Germs, and Steel but Cannons, Wineglasses and Teacups.

There's a theory that coffee was what sparked great scientific advancement... Or at least the many revolutions and deposing of royalty.

Have you ever read about Haijin? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haijin If not because of it, USA could have been easily Chinese. In the age Age of the Discovery they had better and bigger ships, with stern mounted rudder, multiple masts, water-tight hull sections and magnetic compass.pic.twitter.com/uMUm88Y9CI

Bigger doesn't equal better. If anything, it's cumbersome for actual pioneering.
-
They were better equipped for long travels and were technologically morw advanced. And remember you can have a fleet composed of various ship types and sizes. Their main problem was the Haijin policy and because of it they never reached their potential
-
Some historians believe they had a level that was only achieved in Europe more than one century later
