Precautions against a wrench attack are rarely taken, but bitcoin does provide the necessary tools to guard your savings from wrench attacks: multisig and timelocks. Make your savings only movable on certain days, with help from multiple parties. Now wrench attacks won't work.

One question I get from some of my friends is "what if they power goes out". Thoughts on that? You get access back after... But during?
You can reply that credit/debit cards, paypal, the entire Internet, physical stores, banks, etc... don't work without power as well.

BB is correct. No historical evidence to suggest Bitcoin is a safe haven asset. USD usually rallies in crisis so Bitcoin could be worse off.
