It's possible but won't matter unless your node is a major economic node. Bitcoin is designed to be sybil-resistant.

What do you mean by major economic node? Like you have to be shifting some serious bitcoin on the network?

What Ben said. Miners don't care if your hobbyist full node is signaling UASF. http://Blockchain.info or BitPay would get their attention.

I heard an argument on
@whalepool that if Blockchain Bitpay etc see lots of hobbyists upgrading they will upgrade in turn.1 reply 4 retweets 4 likes -

It becomes like a pseudo-referendum and you get a "headline number" used in media to push agenda.

That is too easily gamed by Sybil attacks. More likely, they will be responsive to known/proven customers and their own internal analyses.

@AnselLindner what do you make of this exchange. It makes me think UASF might not work.1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

This is correct, UASF is really an economy activated soft-fork. Large majority of exchanges and wallets would have to publicly support.

A UASF cannot be successful if only a few economic nodes participate. Of course your node matters. The key is to "eclipse" non-148 nodes.

And even more important, to not get eclipsed. Full nodes are more secure when they make more and more diverse connections.

Agreed, miners have a simple and profitable way to be whitelisted out of the eclipse.
