There must be many of you who are sick&tired of the constant bickering over the Bitcoin max blocksize, a simple parameter selection problem.
That's like calling the graphite rod settings in a nuclear reactor "a simple parameter selection problem."

Misleading analogy. Reactors are governed by complex differential equations, and the design envelope is difficult to navigate.

The reason its non trivial is the collateral damage of getting it wrong can be huge (much the same with BTC)

Any data around that assertion? $20B is peanuts for finance, the centralization effect of modest block size increase is at best third order.
