@NickSzabo4 I think key is to sharply separate last mile from busy roads, as suggested in a pattern language
@drethelin The key to this in turn is better parking garages. Parking lots increasingly the main transition: de-uglify & make them walkable.

@NickSzabo4 one of the decent examples is the indianapolis convention center: it has a parking garage entirely underneath a small park. -
@NickSzabo4 though I think aiming for fewer cars in general might be better in the long run, but it's certainly true parking could be better
