@NickSzabo4 2/ use modern technology for many things they travel to the city. What's left is FOMO, which is stupid and ppl will learn that.

@Nightwolf42 There's still a Metcalfe's Law for face-to-face interactions. Also why endless pontification hasn't gotten people out of cars. -
@Nightwolf42 If pop. interacts w/= probability, value of road network + metropolis rises as 4th power of end-to-end distance/time.

@NickSzabo4 The biggest design constraint on the tallest buildings is the footprint of the elevators needed. Horizontal elevators solve that -
@WorldBitcoinNet Can now cover several city blocks with building that holds 100,000 offices. Put over transit stops & nxt to pkng garage.

@NickSzabo4 I think key is to sharply separate last mile from busy roads, as suggested in a pattern language -
@drethelin The key to this in turn is better parking garages. Parking lots increasingly the main transition: de-uglify & make them walkable. -
@NickSzabo4 one of the decent examples is the indianapolis convention center: it has a parking garage entirely underneath a small park. -
@NickSzabo4 though I think aiming for fewer cars in general might be better in the long run, but it's certainly true parking could be better
