Or would the digging itself push it up? Depends on whether it gets any grip I suppose.
@mmeijeri Philae's weight (force) = that of one gram on earth. Digger friction much bigger, needs more resistance. Hope ice screws worked.

@NickSzabo4 I read that they had initially, but apparently they're now afraid the spacecraft bounced off once before touching down again. -
@mmeijeri If didn't work 2nd time & can't try again, their 20cm soil sampler is crippled. -
@mmeijeri In comet mining project would make sure it works on a simulant in LEO first. Also backup thrusters so can try again. -
@NickSzabo4 Yeah, I'm surprised they didn't have backup thrusters. Although in a sense the impact velocity and ice screws were "backups".
