Governments around the world heavily subsidized and promoted these "foods" in the fiat century. I challenge you to remove them from your diet for a month & then respond to this tweet with your impressions of the kind of impact these subsidies & policies have had on the world.pic.twitter.com/xiUkHhjnFy

I am a vegetarian for religious reasons. What kind of vegetarian protein do you recommend?

I half expected this usual, smart aleck reply but wanted to ask anyway to see if you had something useful to say. I tried though. :)

With all due respect to your Bitcoin education, you could have given a more humble reply/no reply at all. But, alas you value a few likes for a smarty-pants reply higher.

You asked my opinion. All plant proteins are bad for you. You don't have to get upset at me for being honest, but I understand that protein deprivation will have this effect.

Man, you really lost me with this argument. It is just mega stupid!

It's a pity that Saif has this attitude. It's a poor way of persuading people (imo) and he has important things to say (atleast about Bitcoin). The best persuasive technique I have seen is that of Milton Friedman.

He basically brainwashed me to become a libertarian through his speeches. I have watched 100's of hours of him talk and have never seen him not polite or kind to people on the other side, yet very very effective.

@saifedean would probably say it would be stupid of me to expect strangers to be kind on internet. But, I think it's okay to start with kindness/politeness as a shelling point even with strangers. What I don't do though is trust strangers - like @NickSzabo4 says.

It's great to be kind, or at least polite and diplomatic. The fallacy is expecting strangers to in turn be kind. They are often not, and indeed the depths of their hatred can be surprisingly brutal for the inherently nonviolent medium of remote communications.

I agree. My expectations are quite low, but it's still a low cost prisoner's dilemma for me to start polite/humble with strangers. People like Milton Friedman and @EconTalker are great inspirations for me in that regard.
