Great article. I didn’t read the arguments of Gelernter neither am I religious, but I have similar question. An simple eye is infinitely complex than an iPhone or any system created by men. So does the current evolution theory defend random combination can build complex systems ?
Dawkins addressed this quite well in his _The Blind Watchmaker_. There are in fact quite simple eye precursors, e.g. light-detecting patches of skin. Thinking that there is no path from simple cells to complex eyesight is an argument from lack of imagination & knowledge.
Yes. Sure. But the same arguments apply to any software or hardware. My point is that it is still impossible to reproduce a system in which randomness causes its own evolution.
