I believe the takeaway here is that an eight year old boy is thinking about climate change and where to live because of it.
And some other 8 year old is wondering whether what kind of monster he has under his bed, and what this means for whether he should use his blanket or his fists to defend himself against the monster. Interesting perhaps but why would I take away a lesson about bed monsters?

Sometimes it’s better to be safe than sorry. Predictions only go so far in chaotic systems.

We can better predict the future by examining the past. Down here at 30 degrees lat, between Texas and Louisiana, there's a lot of areas that historically, pre-"climate change," were uninhabitable and are of marginal habitability today. Not to mention Isle Derniere and Galveston.
