The pound sterling -- for most of its millennium-old history an actual pound of actual silver -- has only been fully fiat since 1931, give or take a decade or two before that during big wars suspending gold or silver redemptions for bank notes (IOUs) then resuming them.

What amazes me is how short human memory is. Either ~20 or even 100 years is a really short time span in history. This knowledge could easily be transmitted across generations yet people keep trusting these scams over and over. #Bitcoin will change that. -

There is no supplement for self accountability though. I do agree with @jimmysong about oppression being the problem and his jabful presentation "Bitcoin is the ultimate social justice"
