I've struggled with the slow value prop too, but what about the argument of
$btc being the equivalent to "virtual" gold? Is there any value to such a use case? There's not a great deal of practical uses for gold (from a retail or general use perspective) either. -

You do right. Get rich fast and trading marketing does not generate hodlers of last resort. One needs to take the time to go down the rabbit hole to understand money and the implications of Bitcoin. This is how Bitcoin is built on a sound basis and can sustainably grow in value.

Say 85% are merely speculators that join the space for gains only, by word of mouth they will bring in many more and even if the 15% non [primarily] speculators remains the same, we gain some autodidacts along the way and people that care to contribute and innovate.

85%? 99% in this scene is in it for profits they look to make one way or another (invests, trading, devs) and cash out in FIAT. 1% are the crazy ones who think btc will replace fiat...
