Multisig is not "anti-wrench" and implying that is misleading and possibly harmful.
multi-sig AND multi-location does defeat the classic wrench attack problem... is that clear...
That's obviously not clear if they need your tweet to clear that up. And, even with multi-location, multisig is not "anti-wrench" in any meaningful way; believing otherwise is broken threat modelling, thus potentially harmful.
can u explain... you're not really saying anything... details...
I'm saying something, just not explaining. But you're partially right, so just give me a sec.
1/ Multisig (incl. multi-loc) relates to asset security while "anti-wrench" relates to personal security. I see what they mean when they conflate both, but doing so is a flawed mental model and detrimental to any well informed security decision.
Multisig DOES increase your defensibility against a wrench attack. We are aware of every scenario your outline, and communicate every one of those to our clients. Multisig does not guarantee you won’t be attacked. But it does make capturing funds much harder.
I suggest a "protected by multisig" sticker to put on already obvious crypto paraphernalia (e.g. hardware wallets), similar in purpose to the "this store keeps only $200 at this location" sign at the local 7-11 but better.
That’s a great idea Nick! We created a special site for this exact purpose — Secured by Casa: https://keys.casa/secured-by-casa/ … We designed this after explicit customer request. Maybe we should also create stickers?
I don't imagine perps will stop to read web sites in the middle of their act, but if you can teach potential crypto thieves that "multisig" means "this is going to be a lot harder than you thought", the stickers will work well.
Yes, this specific page is about publicly spreading the knowledge of high security protection from Casa usage before an act. Some customers display it on their profiles.
But great point that we can design a special sticker for thieves that find devices during an attack.
