@NickSzabo4 have a take on the current state of DAOs? Or any old but relevant material?
From what I've seen (which is far from everything), underwhelming so far. For starters calling it an "organization" is a big exaggeration. The useful part is a shared treasury governed by trust-minimized and relentless dry code. Focus on that and there will be winners.

There are tons of applications for dry-rule-governed money pools besides organizations, one kind being to expand scope of trust minimization from just a money transfer itself to more of the surrounding financial context of particular (still large) categories of money transfer.

Thanks, this is validating. For example, DAOs governing decentralized exchanges is trendy, but why not just have a centralized exchange where the webmaster has something like collateral / earnest money in a multi-sig controlled by non-admin stakeholders ... ?
