After years of failing to find consensus on shaping bitcoin in a way that would benefit their businesses, well funded and powerful Roger/Jihan inc forked away. If they had respected consensus and stayed in bitcoin they would be a faction, they did not.

... but BTC is not suited right now to solving the world's currency situation. It's a store of value increasingly for the privileged elite at this point.
