The good news is "Bitcoin is for enemies" -- Anton can't stop me from using it and I can't stop him. Unlike my grandparents' farm, with good key management no thugs of either communist or fascist persuasion can take Bitcoin property. (ht @pierre_rochard IIRC)

its as if leftism is actually a biologically based contagion that commandeers the minds of hosts. its about the only thing that makes sense

Our brains are evolved for communicating in small villages with people we've known and observed all our lives. They aren't biologically adapted to dealing properly with information from strangers ("news" and other mass media, especially).

Dunno if I agree with this. Our brains have developed the ability to abstract ideas and events which offers the tools for processing a wide degree of information outside of that directly related to our evolutionary history.

Yea, I mean, if they 'evolved' to one extent, why can't they evolve to a higher level right? By that logic, one could say that 'our bodies evolved to walk on all fours', we are going against this by walking upright....

This is idiotic, try learning about evolution. Our ancestors learned to walk over 4 million years ago, and our bodies are adapted to it modulo the occasional backache. Most of our ancestors lived in small villages until a few thousand to a few hundred years ago.

Don’t you think the human brain is an exception though? I’d argue that humans are uniquely capable of overcoming their natural predispositions.

No. It is very much the creature of the small village, lost in a sea of strangers.

Agree that a lot of human behavior/preferences can be explained by our evolutionary past, but I don’t believe we are limited by it. Would be kind of like saying we aren’t biologically adapted to program computers. It’s not technically incorrect, but also falls short of reality.

Maybe we just evolved quicker over the last 1000 years.. I can't say I know nearly enough about evolution to debate this properly, but neither do I think that we are limited to where we have been at a point in the past
