He is going to GIVE us all $1,000 a month? Nope! He doesn’t have the money. What he means is that he will TAKE from us to then RETURN that same money up to a limit of $1,000 a month. Big difference! https://twitter.com/Breaking911/status/1163280097090183169 …

The broader goal of his idea is to create a safety net for ALL citizens with the lowest financial overhead. We can easily afford this if we forgo endless wars and tax breaks for the 1%. The benefits to society will be tremendous. Nick, you'll get a dividend too! #YangGang

He doesn't offer any realistic plan for the more important part, which is getting rid of the special breaks, and the already existing massive welfare and warfare spending. He's just pushing more "free" stuff like almost all the rest of his vile lot.

Fair point. I would like to see the existing welfare apparatus dismantled in return for this policy as well. Many of his original proposals were designed with efficiency and incentives in mind. Unfortunately he's dialed that back to appease the hard left.

Without a very profound and rather improbable libertarian revolution it won't happen. It will just get glommed on to the existing welfare state and followed up by demands for even more.

Perhaps. A ballooning welfare state, inflation and a govt. debt crisis are real concerns. But I worry more about a potential uprising from the working class. AFAIK there's no other policy proposal that'll help working people more.

The best way to help ‘working people’ is to get out of their way and stop taking their stuff.

In ancient Rome, one political party proposed discounted grain tot he people. Opposition then proposed FREE grain When Vandals stood at Rome's gates there were no more patriots to fight, just welfare recipients. Paupers used to changing masters could't care less about civ survival

Some sources say there were about 4% of Italians in the Roman army at the end. It takes a lot to kill a spirit of a great empire, but dole will do it.

His strategy is to create upwards class mobility, as opposed to the downward pressure of the last 20+ years. Helicopter money is one of thew few remaining tools to use at the end of a long term debt cycle, which happens very infrequently.
