Ditto. My grandparents were Hungarian versions of what in Ukraine they called "kulaks": they worked hard & saved & bought a farm from a broke feudal family. The "anti-fascist" thugs stole it. When Hungarians rebelled against this kind of treatment, Soviets sent in their tanks.

People are too emotionally triggered by words. It is a conditioned response, not innate. Understanding one's own conditioning can help overcome this.

Many of us are triggered by communists who call themselves "anti-fascists" for extremely good reasons. They ruined dozens of economies. They killed over a hundred million people, and my father witnessed some of those.

My wife is an immigrant originally from China. Her grandfather sometimes wakes up screaming from nightmares remembering the Mao era. Before I met her, I had only read about the horrors of communism.

tens of thousands of Chinese came to the west coast as refugees after having their land stolen and families murdered by communists. Americans don't know this, because chinese ppl don't feel a constant need to remind others of their victimhood.
