No argument, re: centralized data bases, but I think WHY the government wants to collect it is "the danger to our liberty" more than how they store it.
The why usually changes after it has been irreversibly collected. How they store it & access is very important. Whether they collect it in the first place is most crucial. How they collect it is important because it's the only thing over which you have (partial) direct control.

Indeed, "knowledge is power". That's why they want to know more about us, and do not want transparency for themselves.

A reversal of fortunes coming in many ways. It will be apparent that transparency of govey is a must while privacy our most cherished possession.

I hope you are right. Hard to see that happening while so many people shrug and say "I have nothing to hide", which of course, is not the point.

Those people seem to consider government as their "protector"..almost like a parent...so "don't question...just obey and be safe" is the mind-set. And government uses fear tactics to reinforce the illusion. The truth is "obey and be owned".

Time for humanity to grow up. perhaps this period will provide the required discontent to push us out of the "nest"???
