I find the term "hoarding" offensive. It assumes that what I do with my money is illegitimate. That somehow I am miserly and refuse to consume or invest as others might want me to. The term is despicable in my eyes.
It has long been used in banker propaganda with a negative connotation, often as a prelude for raiding the "hoards" in some self-righteous pseudoscientific cause. For example in the 20th century cash was often devalued and gold sometimes confiscated to "discourage hoarding."

i agree that "hoard" is intentionally negative, but acting offended rarely changes ppl's minds. just own it, like with "maximalist"! proud to be a toxic hoarder :)
