Doctors have a duty to respect good & concise patient research. Patients should stop tolerating willful ignorance among hubristic physicians. That said, the self-researching patient has a duty to communicate their findings clearly & concisely, using evidence of medical quality.

Most doctors take 1-2 classes in nutrition. They're trained in the old SAD paradigm. And they don't keep up with new research. It's a fairly low bar for patients to be more knowledgeable when it comes to how they should eat.

1/2 Patient centred care is an important component of modern medical studies. Reinforcing positive behaviours of patients, such as when they research and take an interest in their own health, generally leads to better outcomes. However, a patient should not be expected to...

2/2 provide "evidence of medical quality". They shouldn't be expected to be health professionals. If they do have expertise, and many patients certainly know more about their own health than doctors, then that's excellent 🙂

For me the main concept is that I am the owner of my health, not my doctor. The second concept is that doctors have huge student loans, expensive machines to pay off, staff payroll. They won't always make decisions in your financial favor. Don't be a chump.

Ah yes, what I call “sophomorons” - people who drastically overestimate their judgment on a subject based on middling formal training and self-regarding credentialism.

Like anything you have to do your own research. You also have to listen to learn. In many cases, listen to what your body is telling you. Doctors don't often ask the questions correctly, and some people don't like to complain.
