So perhaps we should just drop the use of the term "community" in this context. It seems to be a throwback to the past when all the people we knew all lived in the same cave.
Or in the same village, which most people spent their entire lives in (modulo marrying somebody in the next village over), for many of our ancestors only a century or two ago and since those caves. "Community" and "communicate" are based on same root word and meaning.
