It's only parents that teach kids to read. Teachers can only reinforce it.
True in my case, possibly an exaggeration in many others e.g. kids who have working moms. In my case no teacher of a class of many kids could have come remotely close to substituting for the loving, cultured, 1-on-1 attention of my stay-at-home-with-the-kids mom.

Definitely an exaggeration, but the point remains that parents play the greatest role in a child's education. Even learning the fundamentals in class won't stick unless reinforced at home (in most cases)
