People cannot and should not be excluded from using Bitcoin, but by the very nature of humans and communities they can be excluded from particular communities. That is one of the reasons why there are multiple communities, not some single monolithic community.

Thank you for this uplifting opinion, and for your amazing technical contributions. I meant it when I said I try to keep an open mind- I read news that you retweet & try to understand its perspective. I never want to be "sure" of my stance cos that means I've stopped learning.

Bitcoin is strangers in sync, not a community. (it’s a very simplistic/common sense way to think about it)

I totally agree. For Bitcoin to scale socially, it can't be a community. It must the an afterthought it people's minds. There are dozens of communities that have Bitcoin Twitter, meetups and conference interactions/conversations as a focal point.
-
There is also an informal guild of Bitcoin builders, particularly Bitcoin Maximalist entrepreneurs and cypherpunk developers, which meet regularly (overlapping) in real life such as conferences and which share a special bond, knowledge/expertise, trust, inside stories, strategy

On the internet, nobody knows you're not a community member.

Thanks, this clarifies your position for me somewhat and makes sense. I was thinking of "bitcoin community" in a completely inclusive way to represent *all users regardless of affiliations but i get your point.

Surely “the Bitcoin community” means “everyone and anyone that wants to take part at any time and in whatever way they please whether it is a force for good or bad”. Aka “Mnuchin and Sherman are reluctant community members but we welcome them the same way we welcome anyone else”

Public goods are available to the ... public. Good or bad we all get public goods. Compromising their performance "for the public good" is oxymoronic. The public best arises when public goods, all transport and trust networks, are impartial and universal at base, and competed.

Anything to become permanent, it has to be institutionalised and can't be associated with personalities, communities or cults. Bitcoin will be institutionalised too.

I am not OF a community, nor will I ever be and feeling outside of Bitcoin because of that has been destructive to my general well being.
