      Dollars on a bank are dollars. Bitcoins on an exchange are bitcoins. Bitcoins on Liquid are bitcoins. In all of these cases you're not the direct bearer of the underlying asset. It does lower the reliability of the asset, so the market could potentially value these IOUs less.

      There's a crucial distinction to be made here: bitcoins are not Bitcoins. BTW, during the free banking era, less reliable dollars did indeed trade at a discount to more reliable ones.

      Probably only if enough sats on LN or the sidechains are at significant risk, so that people are willing to pay a premium to turn their sats into Sats. In this scenario exchanges could also be at risk, making determination of market price difficult.

          If Tether can hold a USD peg i don't see why LBTC or LN sats can't hold a BTC peg given their designs. I wouldn't store value in anything other than BTC tho.
