What's you opinion on Monero only?https://twitter.com/NickSzabo4/status/1029606966367158272 …

What’s your opinion on GRIN/MimbleWimble?
-
It seems very promising, and I've heard great things about it from engineers I respect, but I haven't looked at it closely.
-
But technically it is essentially a subset of Monero. MW is just about leveraging Confidential Transaction using ECDLP only. nothing more really : )
-
A modified( non-vanilla) MW (MWv1.1) ends up being a much better base protocol than Cryptonote- It adds scalability with potentially no trade-off in privacy. Even though Monero has done an excellent job improving CN, it's still never going to scale like
#MimbleWimble -
I agree inasmuch as MW is primary a scaling improvement. I'm not convinced that anything that requires interactivity is ultimately "better", although we're getting into a very nuanced set of tradeoffs at that point.

@PirateChain is 99.99% shielded transactions. Zcash based -
I.e trusted setup based.

If you can show me a logical way that the Powers of Tau ceremony may have been compromised, I’ll get you a job as a Hollywood writer.
-
Lol ok. Trusted setup is optimal because muh “powers of tau”
-
Instead of trying to be funny, let’s be realistic. When looking at an attack vector we look at how it could be exploited. Looking for some realism here because everyone on Twitter has jokes.
-
I agree it’s unlikely. But trust less setup is optimal, Monero, starks, Spartan. Anyway I’m not trying to be tribal. I think the more private currencies the better for humanity. All efforts work towards privacy. And that’s great.

-
Our internal discussions include a move towards this for sure. Right now we’re focusing on increasing the z address environment for the public. Z address only mining, exchanges, tipbots, e-commerce plugins, full node, wallets, stream donations all done, and more in the works.

Nice work!
