Would you be willing to get a neural implant?

Not unless I had a handicap so severe that I required it to function.
-
Losing your competitive edge in society against the implantees may become a handicap?
Also, upgrades stimulates endorphins. This is unsettling though -
Being manipulated and punished by strangers actually puts you at a severe disadvantage.

I’m going to end up in a data center aren’t I

I have to hope people won't be idiotic enough to agree to implants that someone else has control over, that can't be turned off and or removed.
-
Brain implants more than anything give a good cause for developing cheap 3D material-printing, where anyone could print their own chips and load with opensource software.
-
No big difference imho. You still trust the developers. This time the developers of the chips blueprint.
-
True but I admit I personally have more trust in well established open source projects than projects coming out of corporate giants.
-
If the prize is world domination, I wouldn't trust anybody. Just sayin

Why would any sane person subject themselves to neural implants?
-
Many... Many... Many reasons. 1: Repair brain/nerve damage 2: Enhance mental capabilities 3: Simulated reality (AKA Matrix, Sword Art Online, Etc etc etc) People will be lined up out the door... as Quality of life enhancements would be through the roof.

This seems so dystopian but I think it might one day be a reality.
#Technology is already a part of “us” literally. We cannot put down our phones. We are already cyborgs to some extent. Physical implants are not far off.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
