Climate change is much too benign sounding - we need to rebrand it to “climate crisis” or “global warming” or “climate catastrophe” to convey the severity of the situation we are in.

This fear-mongering about the most extreme and unlikely of the consequences converts the issue from a reasonable scientific, engineering, and economic issue, into a pathological Pascal's scam: https://unenumerated.blogspot.com/2012/07/pascals-scams.html …

Nick.. you're super smart, and terribly good with complex computation, yet perhaps you might let this one slide as you are neither an actual climate scientist nor a system of systems engineer.

Who’s to say he hasn’t studied this extensively in his off time? You don’t know, therefore you remain quiet is always a bad take. And assume he is absolutely wrong, then he will learn via Cunningham's Law. Don’t be afraid to post your beliefs. Ever.

If your beliefs are just that.....Beliefs, and not substantiated by fact it is actually very good practice to " keep quiet". Even if @NickSzabo4 may have done extensive research, if you research with a predetermined outcome already in mind, you will always find YOUR answer.

I don't have a predetermined outcome in mind. I am very aware that fossil fuel CO2 poses unprecedented risks (as well as likely smaller benefits), among them global warming, ocean acidification, and fertilization effects (good and bad).

I am also very concerned that political solutions for reducing CO2 are vastly more difficult than commonly believed, and themselves pose very substantial risks, for examplehttps://twitter.com/NickSzabo4/status/1145385306184568832 …

Fighting over the planet's thermostat will lead to wars. Multiply a common household quarrel by seven billion. Since fossil fuels are still by far the most effective way to power weapons (nukes aside), those wars will be won by the side that emits the most carbon. https://twitter.com/zerohedge/status/1145383087225954305 …
