Scarce goods and services are always rationed somehow. When they are not rationed by price, they are usually rationed by waiting in line. https://unenumerated.blogspot.com/2005/11/emergency-economics.html …pic.twitter.com/C1OjuXYXx1

True but basic necessities such as housing and healthcare should not be scarce in a modern developed economy.

Every first world country in the world has free or universal health care for ALL of it's citizens.......... Except the U.S.A, additionally most 2nd world countries have the same. Healthcare shouldn't be a privilege, it's a right!

The consumer allows it, collectively, and we know that quantity matters. E.g.: German health insurance is €15k/year. While some people don't like it and are looking at other options (i.e. move to a cheaper country), others would pay just not to die:https://twitter.com/ChristopherIsak/status/1149642879309979649?s=19 …

Gotcha ... well, I don't use health insurance much and there might have been only 1-2 cases in 10 years, but I pay that so I won't be killed off just because I have no money to afford expensive treatment or medicine. Nothing to complain. You don't die. Good enough for me. 😂

So how do you address scarcity for scenarios where flexible supply is needed (Maslow's basic needs)? Spartans addressed it by not allowing newborns who weren't born 100% healthy to live (pardon the visuals)...

We ration healthcare in the US just as much as they do in Europe. We just ration it by wealth, they ration it by actual need. In the US, you get healthcare if youre rich. If you need it, you may not. Unlike Europe, 50K Americans die every year from lack of health insurance.
