Doubtful. Cancer cells are frequently generated by every body. The immune system normally suppresses them before they can substantially grow. High blood sugar levels give cancer cells the the big energy source they need to grow faster than the immune system can kill them.
Eating sugar does not cause high blood sugar. Having high insulin resistance causes high blood sugar, which causes cancer. Insulin resistance is caused by fatty diets.
In my extended family, pretty much everyone has the same diet of low-quality high-fat meat, usually with a side of cheese and starch. Looking around at the family reunion, the fat ones with type 2 diabetes were the ones that had large sugary beverages in front of them all day.
