It’s amazing how many developers in crypto would benefit from going back and researching your early work. So much economic value has been destroyed over a lack of grokking basic, historical precedents.

I thought I had added this one to SNI! I’m going to have to fix that soon.

Why is blockchain significant? Or is this snark?

This was written in 2001, three years after Nick came up with the concept of “blockchains” in “Secure Property Titles with Owner Authority.” I have my thoughts on what blockchains are good for and not today, but this is classic Cypherpunk work.

Plus, based on that schematic, you can replace the title registry with whatever you want.

btc is $5 to transact so there are zero use cases which make sense on it. You better find a better blockchain if U wanna build this.

I was driving along the Mexico border yesterday and had this flash of anon drug mules dropping their haul in a metal box in the desert, then scanning a code to collect payment. Could work as a covert supply chain concept. Not an endorsement, this just reminded me of that.

Wouldn’t this require some kind of open hardware secure element? E.g. implementation based on RISC-V?
