Genuinely not trying to fear monger, but as a concerned customer it would be great if @coinbase could provide clarity around the statement from one of their reps that their analytics provider sold client data to 3rd parties. Put it this way: for which businesses in the crypto space who KYC/AML' their customers do you have strong expectation that they are not and never will share such information? Why do you have such expectations?

I think a reasonable person would expect information to not be shared other than as disclosed a-priori, and as required to conduct business. And for external access: for reasonable efforts to screen requests for legal authority and rationale for access.

P.S. take a shot at answering the question, which centralized entity that collects KYC/AML info in this space are you highly confident is much less likely to share it, whether accidentally or intentionally, than Coinbase?

Based on what evidence? Have you compared CashApp's internal data control processes, policies, and security mechanisms with Coinbase's (n.b. they are both based in San Francisco, i.e. same jurisdiction, very similar professional and cultural backgrounds).

I have not & do not believe that this info or access would b available 2 either @CashApp or @coinbase customers. If it was I would like 2 review it; given the amount of services @Square provides without any reports of a data breach imo they r less likely 2 share ur info then CB.

Therefore the most honest thing for you and 99.9% of other people in this space not privy to this knowledge is to withold strong opinions about the relative merits of CashApp, Coinbase, and any other parties trusted with KYC/AML info in this space, to protect such information.

What could they say that would not be misleading yet would satisfy people who divulged personal info? That they screwed up like every major data gatherer has and/or will do in the KYC/AML business? That the pretense that KYC/AML regs can be consistent with privacy is fraudulent?

None. A corporations purpose is to maximise profits, which includes abusing customers if it is in their financial interest.

And in the end we have governments that will force said companies to disclose every single costumer. This is a fact.

So you need to trust the company not to sell your data, and that it will not disclose the data to gov. Our only option is not trust corp and gov

All the info from these exchanges is known to the Feds. Certainly CB customers know this so I'm not sure why there would be such an outcry about sharing with other 3rd parties that don't control enforcement agencies.

Any unencrypted information coercively collected *WILL* be leaked. However, I'd say that @krakenfx has a proven track record of securely storing client keys, as well as a strong ethical stance on not cowardly complying with nonsensical requests by state tyrants.
